The Debating Society of IIEST Shibpur (DebSoc) is the institute's official debating and Model United Nations society. Since 2009, it has trained students in parliamentary debate, public speaking, and diplomacy, sending members to competitions across India.

Members compete on the national debating circuit, reaching elimination rounds at IIT, IIM, and open-circuit tournaments. Weekly sessions focus on rhetoric, argumentation, and case-building, skills that carry well beyond debate halls.

Through Model United Nations, members prepare for and compete at conferences across Kolkata and beyond, anchored by BECON, DebSoc's own annual MUN hosted at IIEST Shibpur campus.

No prior experience is required. Most members start from scratch.
